The Nordberg Story
Ron Nordberg was raised in northwest Wyoming and his wife, Sue, hails from central Idaho. Being avid outdoorsmen with a love for hunting lead Ron and Sue to plant their roots in Wyoming around 1980. There they began collecting antlers with their sons, and in 1989 began buying antlers for resale, which lead to a full-time business. By 1991, the family began to design and build antler chandeliers, furniture, and accessories. Ron and Sue exhibit their work in galleries in Vail, Frisco, Estes Park, and Red Stone, Colorado; as well as Jackson Hole, Wyoming; and Bozeman, Montana. They have worked side by side for more than 40 years and will continue to pursue this passion for years to come.
Ron and Sue's son, Doug Nordberg, began his career in 1993 after working in the Alaskan fishing industry for four years. Having numerous close encounters with elk has inspired his furniture design, which shows a simplistic harmony with nature. Doug's furniture is designed to represent more than just one element of an ecosystem; he mixes many different species of wildlife and wood to keep his designs in tune with their natural surroundings. When he is not working, Doug enjoys snowboarding, playing sports, and photography.
Nordberg Furniture designs have been featured in many magazines and books, and in 2005 were featured on the Outdoor Channel. At the Cody High Style Furniture Design Show in Cody, Wyoming, Nordberg Furniture won the Switchback Ranch Purchase Award for 2007. The piece is now part of the permanent exhibit at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody.
